SUMMARY:Waynesville Parks and Rec EV Charger Ribbon Cutting
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Waynesville\, in collaboration with the Waynesville Environmental Sustainability Board\, will be holding a ribbon cutting to celebrate the commissioning of SIX new 9.6kW EV chargers at its recreation facility on W Marshall Street\, near the tennis courts.  This installation is the first of two such installations in Waynesville to be completed\, and only the second public Level 2 charging installation of this size in WNC ever!  This installation will allow folks to charge their EVs while they use the recreation facilities\, improving local air quality and community health by combining exercise with zero tailpipe emission vehicles.

DESCRIPTION:In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene\, Footprint Project\, Land of Sky Regional Council of Governments and many other local partners stepped in to deploy solar and battery storage microgrid systems with a focus on restoring power\, telecommunications\, and clean drinking water to communities across Western North Carolina. In the months since this storm devastated the region\, these partners continue to install clean energy solutions\, with more than 60 operational battery and solar projects on the ground serving North Carolinians. \n\nAnd as part of plans for long-term regional resilience\, the NC Department of Environmental Quality\, through the State Energy Office\, has also invested in a network of planned stationary microgrids and mobile “Beehive” microgrids in Western and Eastern North Carolina. Even with all of this momentum\, the continued recovery needs far outmatch the available resources. Join us for an evening of music at Sierra Nevada’s High Gravity Room to enjoy local artists and support long-term regional recovery through clean energy. Proceeds from this event benefit Footprint Project and Land of Sky Regional Council of Governments and their efforts to serve western North Carolina. \n\nThe event will also feature short remarks from local leaders and recovery organizations about efforts made to date and future recovery needs that can be supported through clean energy. \n\nJoin us at Sierra Nevada’s High Gravity Room for a benefit concert to remember\, featuring live performances by Anders Osborne & Duck!
